GLITCH supports the greenhouse horticulture sector in developing and implementing energy-efficient and climate-neutral techniques. Co-creation processes are managed on the basis of concrete demonstrations and consultation with partners in the business chain. In this way we realize crossovers between greenhouse horticulture and the high-tech sector. We do this with various themes around energy use in the cultivation of tomato, lettuce, cucumber, strawberry and sweet bell pepper.
GLITCH is committed to the innovation process itself. Several workshops and consultation moments were provided in which different parties arrived at a practice-ready technology. Through intense collaboration, the 13 Flemish and Dutch partners realized concrete innovations with a clear impact on CO2 reduction. In this way, an active contribution was made to a sustainable sector.
The realized innovation projects are: Energy-efficient lighting techniques, Energy-efficient cultivation systems, More efficient utilization of low-grade heat, Utilization of CO2 from flue gases while maintaining air quality in the greenhouse, Energy balancing day screens, Energy balancing night screens, Development of vapor heat pump for active dehumidification, Cultivation trial climate neutral greenhouse.
