Abstract
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping livestock production, offering new possibilities for real-time monitoring, welfare assessment, and data-driven decision support. The talk will present concrete case studies developed at ILVO across dairy and beef cattle, poultry, and pig production systems. These include computer-vision solutions for behaviour recognition and growth monitoring, sensor-fusion approaches combining UWB, accelerometers and edge-AI cameras, automated weight and body-size estimation, early detection of welfare issues, and intelligent data pipelines for large-scale farm monitoring. The session will highlight practical insights gained from deploying and validating these technologies in real farm environments, as well as the opportunities and challenges of integrating AI into everyday livestock management.
