Abstract

This scientific report describes how emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases from livestock barns can be correctly determined based on the current state of scientific knowledge. The report does this for six application areas. Part A focusses on determining emissions from housing systems, barn techniques and management measures in the context of a general acceptance in legislation. Part B focusses on determining the removal efficiency of end-of-pipe air cleaning technologies in the context of a general acceptance in legislation. Part C focusses on emission monitoring in the context of target-based permits granted to farms. Finally, parts D, E and F focus on the development and validation of (sensor) measurement systems for continuous concentration measurement of gases, dust and odour respectively. This report was produced by scientific experts from four scientific organizations. It can be prescribed as a method to be followed in a specific area of application, for example by the national government, by permit granting authorities, or by standardization institutes. By prescribing this, the application of this document becomes a protocol.
