    Abstract

This exploratory research reveals a range of research themes, considered socially relevant by a broad group of actors involved in agriculture and the countryside. The themes are structured in the report by six distinguished topics: 'Sustainability Concept', 'Metropolitan Flanders', 'Farm & Farmer', 'Society', 'Food & Food Chain', and 'Policy & Institutions'. An important conclusion of the research is that stakeholders seem to use different approaches to look at the sustainability of agriculture and countryside. According tot the researchers, there is a distincition concerning the priorities for research and the desired solutions depending on the discourse applied.
