Abstract
This document has been prepared in the context of EFSA's mandate on plant pest surveillance (M-2020-0114) at the request of the European Commission. Its purpose is to guide EU Member States in gathering information for designing risk-based surveys on regulated viruses, viroids and phytoplasmas that infect species of the genera Fragaria, Malus, Prunus, Pyrus, Rubus and Vitis. The genera Cydonia and Ribes are not known to host any of the regulated pathogens and therefore have not been assigned a pest survey card. These pathogens are regulated as Union quarantine pests. The genera Fragaria, Malus, Prunus, Pyrus, Rubus and Vitis contain several plant species that are grown for fruit production. In total, nine pathogens are known to be hosted by multiple fruit tree genera, whereas 11 pathogens are restricted to host plants in a single genus. This document serves as a guide for selecting and using the appropriate EFSA pest survey cards when preparing the surveillance activities for these viruses, viroids and phytoplasmas. The corresponding pest survey cards are organised by plant genus and can be used in a crop-based approach.
