PhD dissertation Charlotte Watteyn. he goal of this PhD project is to give recommendations regarding land use practices in Costa Rica and propose sustainable alternatives. We focus on the conservation of wild aromatic vanilla species by protecting the forests where they naturally occur and the development of diverse agroforestry systems with vanilla species as a cash crop on degraded lands around these forests.
