Uittreksel
The solid fraction from digestate separation is an interesting product that can be used as a biofertilizer to close nutrient cycles and as a source of organic matter (OM) to maintain the soil organic carbon content in agricultural soils. This solid fraction is characterized by a rather low dry matter (DM) content and has little structure. Composting is a well-known process to increase product quality and organic matter stability of organic wastes. We investigated (i) in which circumstances the solid fraction of digestate separation can be composted and (ii) if composting can increase the general product quality.
