    Uittreksel

It is widely accepted that having houseplants offers a wide range of benefits for human's physical and psychological health. Yet a lot of people have few or no plants in their house and many are hesitant to buy houseplants because they do not know how to take care of them. This paper describes the development of Solis, a gamified plant care system for home usage. In this study, we focus on the added value of gamification in the Solis system to raise enjoyment for the plant-owner while taking care of the plant. The results of the user evaluation showed that the system gave benefits for its users and plants. The gamification has brought a more fun and enjoyable process of caring for houseplants for its users.
