Uittreksel

The current challenges in broiler production require the use of additives in the feed with an increased usage of natural plant extracts. Among others, tannins show potential as antioxidants, metal chelators and antimicrobial compound. Gallic acid is a building block of hydrolysable tannins to which most of the tannin properties could be linked. Despite its increasing use, little is known on the bioavailability of this compound. Therefore, a pharmacokinetic study was performed to assess the bioavailability of gallic acid in broilers.
