    Uittreksel

The Charm Blue Yellow II (Charm Sciences Inc., Lawrence, MA) is a broad-spectrum microbiological inhibitor test for the detection of antimicrobials in milk. The test was validated at ILVO-T&V according to Commission Decision 2002/657/EC.
All ß-lactam antibiotics were detected at their respective MRL, except for desfuroylceftiofur. Moreover, all tetracyclines, 3 out of 5 sulfonamides and also tylosin, tilmicosin, gentamycin, neomycin, lincomycin and pirlimycin were detected at their respective MRL.
The repeatability in scores for the Charm Blue Yellow II is not always as good as the repeatability in colour factors obtained for other similar microbiological tests.
Interferences (false positive results) were observed for high somatic cell milk, for milk with a high fat content and for milk with a low or high protein content. These results are consistent with other inhibitory tests evaluated, with the exception of CMT (Copan Milk Test).
